Sofia is the easiest way into Bansko. It's about 150 km away and roughly 2-2.5 hours by road, and there are four main ways to make the trip.
Private transfer or taxi
This is the quickest and simplest option, taking you from the terminal to your accommodation in about 2.5 hours. It suits families, groups and late arrivals, and prices are usually per vehicle, so it gets better value the more of you there are.-
Shared shuttle (winter only)
The shared shuttle takes about 3 hours and cheaper for 1 or 2 people, with hotel drop-off at selected hotels. It runs from mid-December until the end of the ski season in April. Click here for general bus information or search below.Sofia » Bansko

Public bus (cheapest)
Several companies including Union Ivkoni and Popov run buses between Sofia Central Bus Station and Bansko. Tickets cost about €10-€15 and can be booked online or bought on the spot. The journey takes a little over 3 hours, with a 15-minute break in Blagoevgrad.
You'll first need to get from the airport to the bus station. A taxi takes 15 to 40 minutes depending on traffic, or you can get a metro for approx €1 (see map of public transport in Sofia).
Note: the bus station in Bansko is at the very bottom of Bansko (see Bansko map), so depending on where your hotel is, you might need a taxi or a long walk. Expect a total journey of 4 hours or more once you include the transfers. Click here for bus information.
Car hire
This gives you the most flexibility, especially if you're exploring beyond Bansko. The route is mostly motorway followed by a scenic mountain road, and winter tyres or chains matter in snowy conditions.
